Alordosis and Kyphosis

Loss of lordotic curvature or alordosis occurs at  cervical and lumbar spine. Loss of lordosis have an negative impact on its biomechanical functionality and it often results in condition such as spondylosis and osteophyte formations.  Chiropractic adjustments as well as streches and exercises are necessary to restore lordosis to the cervical and lumbar spine.  Kyphosis is a normal curvature of the thoracic spine and is necessary for its function.

Problem arises when there is an excess curvature. This excess curvature is often called ‘kyphosis of the spine”.  Depending on the cause of kyphosis, chiropractic and intermittent traction can be of help and could restore impaired biomechanics. Strengthening of the extensor muscle of the spine is vital part of maintaining the correction achieved through treatment protocol.
